In 2010, Altacal Audubon Society  developed an "Adopt-an-Owl" program to help support the Northern Saw-whet Owl fall monitoring project. In 2017 we included an Adopt-a-Nest Box component, to determine if owls might nest on the Reserve. This exciting program allows an Adoptive Guardian to adopt one or more of the owls banded on the Reserve or a Nest Box that might provide owls with a nest.

The Adoptive Guardian will receive
  • a certificate with a picture of an owl, its' unique band number, age, sex and date of banding and release. OR a certificate with a picture of an installed nest box, its location information, and monitoring results. They are perfect for a 8.5 x 11' certificate frame.
  • a brochure is also included in the packet telling more about our program, how you can be involved, and how to adopt owls for you, your friends and family. Our owl certificates make unique gifts!
  • a letter showing your tax-deductible donation.

Our adoption program is exciting!  To see individual owls for adoption click on the "Owls Available For Adoption!" link to the right, look at the owls, and write down the band number of one you would like to adopt.  Then use our Adopt an Owl order form, print it out and include the particular band number of the owl you chose, or let us pick an owl for you. Mail the form and check ($30.00 per owl or box) to:
